5 indoor activities to keep kids moving
When children have to stay indoors, it seems like an impossible task to keep them entertained. While the days often seem endless, you don’t need to pull your hair out to keep your kids moving and having fun! Check out these 5 indoor activities to keep your kids moving.
Actitvity I: Set up an indoor obstacle course: Create a fun, unique and imaginative indoor obstacle course for kids. Grab pillows, blankets, hula hoops, chairs, and any other household items you can find to create a challenging and fun indoor obstacle course. Motivate the children to complete the obstacle course as many times as possible, such as a prize for the most creative course completed.
Acitvity II: Do a balloon game. Items Needed: 1 balloon (maybe a backup or two). Fill the balloon with air and try to keep it off the ground for as long as possible. See how long your kids can keep the ball in the air without hitting the ground or while “hot lava”. Stay tuned and set new records all month long!
Activity III: Dance! Dance! Dance Party, Freeze Dance or any other form of dancing can be turned into play time. The aim of these dance games is to turn up the jam, get moving and have fun showing off your favorite dance moves and maybe even learning new ones. To make it even more exciting, you can let the children dance against each other through a dance competition.
Activity IIII: The cleanup game: Yes, this is a thing. If your kids have been indoors all day, your playroom is probably looking like a disaster. Turn on the timer and challenge your kids to clean up the room before the timer goes off. If the children succeed in tidying up everything within a certain time, they can be rewarded with a snack.
Acitvity V: Animal charades: Step 1: Have your kids draw animals on pieces of paper to use for the game. Step 2: Use the pieces of paper and try to imitate the animals. Make sure you don’t use sound, just movement, when mimicking the animal!
